Remarkables Ski Field Opening Dates
Due to open on 21st June 2008 (provided there is sufficient snow)
Due to close in early October 2008 (If snow conditions are still good the mountain may stay open later).

The 2nd closest Ski field from Queenstown. Only 50 minutes drive by car (you may need chains) or take the bus. The road is sealed from town to the mountain turn off, then its 14km of unsealed mountain road.

The Remarkables Ski Area is known for its alpine environment, relaxed atmosphere and sense of fun. Young snowboarders, freeskiers and families flock to the mountain’s varied trails, terrain parks and backcountry areas.

Freestylers can go on the rampage in a brand new UP & GO Terrain Park in Sugar Bowl this year – twice the size of the existing terrain park. Novice freestylers can progress in the Fruju Beginner Park while not-so-serious visitors can forget the boards and enjoy the Ozone Tubing Park. Live music on the deck adds to the party atmosphere.

There are a many different passes available, we have tried to simplfy the options to make it as easy as possible for you to book. Generally most people want day lift passes. However you can also get half day passes (12.30pm - 4pm). Please email us if you require more information about any of these products: info@everythingqueenstown.com

Multi Day Passes

These passes have a 2 day grace (with the exception of a 2 day pass which can be used over 3 days). For example a 3 day pass is valid over 4 days, a 6 day pass is valid over 8 days and so on. You can also use these passes on either Coronet Peak or The Remarkables ski fields. 1 day passes do not need to be booked in advance. These can be purchased on the day.

Combo Packs with lessons

There are a range of package options that include lift, lesson and rental designed to suit your ability. These come in 1, 3 or 5 day ski or snowboard options. The longer the package the better you will become.

Starter Pack: Designed for the absolute beginner and has limited lift access. Enjoy the friendly beginner terrain and supportive coaching. Most people are able to stop, turn, and ride the beginner lifts by the end of the second session.

Includes: A Lift Pass to ride the beginner lifts, recreational skis, boots and poles or snowboard and boots, and 2 X 1.5 hour group lessons.

3/5 Day Pack: Day 2 will see you experiencing the equivalent of the Progession Pack (see below). Day 3-5 will provide you with another group lesson per day with further skill enhancement and unlimited lift access allowing you to move beyond the novice slopes.

Progression Pack: Designed for the novice or second day skier / boarder or if you need to brush up on the basic skills and fundamentals of skiing / boarding. If you have been before, even if it was 10 years ago, this is the product for you.

Includes: A Novice Lift Pass, upgradeable after 12.30pm at no extra cost, Recreational skis, boots and poles or snowboard and boots, and a 1hr 50min group lesson.

3/5 Day Pack: With further tuition from the experienced snowsports instructors you will grow in confidence and with experience. Days 3-5 will provide you with another group lesson per day (1hr 50mins) with further skill enhancement and unlimited lift access allowing you to move beyond the novice slopes and take on a wider terrain.

In addition to the below scheduled Ski Shuttle Services, The Remarkables runs an additional Shuttle from the base access road carpark.

Chains
If you are driving yourself chains are often required, these are available to hire or buy from several petrol stations and ski shops in central Queenstown. You can also hire chains from half way up the mountain.

EQ Comments

The Remarkables is ideal for familes with its huge beginner area and state of the art facilities but also offers some of the best off piste skiing in NZ. Nothing beats Homeward run after a fresh dump of powder!
When booking lift passes or Starter/Progression Packs make sure you have your clothing sorted before heading up the mountain as they are not included. There are many ski hire shops in town (Green Toad is a good, cheap choice) that rent out clothing the night before which saves you the hassel of organising it first thing in the morning before you ski. Remember, if you're wet and cold you wont enjoy your day in the snow. Be sure to wear water proof gloves, pants and a jacket!
