Getting there is half the fun, transport is provided to and from Queenstown on the Skippers Canyon Road, carved from schist rock this road travels through some of the greatest scenery New Zealand has to offer.
Visit Lord of the Rings locations and learn of the pioneers amazing feats of engineering as your driver explains the history of mining relics which scatter the banks of the Shotover.
The Boats
You're big blue Skippers Canyon jet boat was custom built specifically to operate in the Upper Shotover River. Constructed from heavy gauge aluminium the jet boats are designed for maximum strength and maneuverability.
Skippers Canyon "Big Blue" Jet Boats are powered by Chevrolet v8 engines producing 450 horsepower and operate on high octane aviation fuel. The thrust comes via a Hamilton Jet 212 jet unit pumping an amazing 25,000 liters of water per minute.
Skippers Gold Experience
Why not upgrade to include a 4wd ride into Skippers, gold panning, a visit to Winky's museum and the Pipeline suspension bridge and light refreshments.
