Ski Field - The Remarkables

View ski field webcam

Description

The 2nd closest Ski field from Queenstown. Only 50 minutes drive by car (you may need chains) or take the bus. The road is sealed from town to the mountain turn off, then its 14km of unsealed mountain road.

The Remarkables Ski Area is known for its alpine environment, relaxed atmosphere and sense of fun. Young snowboarders, freeskiers and families flock to the mountain’s varied trails, terrain parks and backcountry areas.

Freestylers can go on the rampage in a brand new UP & GO Terrain Park in Sugar Bowl this year – twice the size of the existing terrain park. Novice freestylers can progress in the Fruju Beginner Park while not-so-serious visitors can forget the boards and enjoy the Ozone Tubing Park. Live music on the deck adds to the party atmosphere.

Children aged 6 and younger ski free at The Remarkables Ski Area.

Generally most people want day lift passes. However you can also get half day passes (12.30pm - 4pm).

Everything Queenstown Comments

The Remarkables is ideal for familes with its huge beginner area and state of the art facilities but also offers some of the best off piste skiing in NZ. Nothing beats Homeward run after a fresh dump of powder! If you're not a beginner or don't want to go off piste then Remarkables can get a bit boring as the main ski runs aren't that interesting.

Lift passes are unable to be pre purchased so we don't have any ski packages available for Coronet Peak. However, if you do need to hire clothing, skis, boots or snowboards then we recommend orgainsing them before you head up the mountain. This will save you the hassel of organising it first thing in the morning before you ski and also saves money as they are heaps cheaper than hiring gear on the mountain. Check out the Skis, Boards & Clothing Rental page on our site.

We recommend you book a Cardrona ski field package as the snow is often superior and there are less people with more open spaces to enjoy beginner and intermediate skiing and boarding. Check out the Cardrona Ski Field Ski Packages available on our site.

If you are an advanced skier or boarder then consider going to Treble Cone for the most challenging terrain in the New Zealand. It's a bit further away but worth it if the snow is good!
