Operating in the Wakatipu Basin, Mt Aspiring National Park and Te Wahipounamu/World Heritage Area the guided walks offered by Wilderness Guided Walks boast some of the most dramatic and spectacular scenery to be seen in New Zealand.
The only way to experience this unique and outstanding environment is to get up close and personal. While wandering among trees in the Beech forest, hiking the hills and hearing the sounds of streams, rivers and birds you are transported to a world of peace and tranquillity.
An entertaining and qualified local guide enhances your walking experience by sharing a wonderful insight into the colourful history of the area as well as interesting facts about birdlife and conservation.
Routeburn Trail
An opportunity to experience one of New Zealand’s ‘Great Walks’ on this full day trip offering stunning views and rich plant life. Waterfalls, nature and outstanding natural beauty all with a friendly & informative guide make this walk a perfect day in the wilderness.
Sylvan Lake Trail
Spend a half day in the Mt Aspiring National Park surrounded by stunning native Beech forest and inquisitive bird life. This relaxed 2.5 hour walk includes a fascinating look into early local history and Department of Conservation projects
Lakeview Trail
Take a step back in time and experience the area’s rich heritage while enjoying superb lake and mountain views. This stunning walk is located near Queenstown. Perfect for people with limited time.

Duration
- Full day Routeburn Trail allow full day (10 hours Queenstown return with up to 7 hours walking)
- Half day Lake Sylvan Trail allow 5 hours Queenstown return. (2.5 hours walking)
- Half day Lakeview Trail allow 3.5 hours Queenstown return ( 2 hours walking)
Departures
- Routeburn Trail departs at 8am only
- Lake Sylvan Trail and Lakeview Trail depart at 8am and 1.30pm
- Walks only operate during summer months (Oct - May)
Other Information
- Maximum of 7 clients per guide (minimum numbers apply)
- Please bring warm clothing, suitable footwear, camera and sunscreen
- Child age is 15 years and under
- Walks do not operate during winter (June - Sept)
- Routeburn trail full day walk departs at 8am only
