    New Year's Eve in Queenstown

The week between Christmas and New Year's Eve is the busiest time of the year in Queenstown. Hotels book up many months in advance so don't make the mistake of just showing up and trying to get a room.
There are free fireworks in the Queenstown Bay at midnight with many thousands of people packing the shores trying to get a good vantage point.
Many of the bars charge a cover charge and most have long lines to get in so we recommend either staying in the one bar or walking the streets and taking in the sights and sounds.
Drinking is not permitted in public areas for the week before and after New Years in Queenstown.
