The central Queenstown pick up for the Skippers Canyon Jetboat is at the Station building at the corner of Shotover & Camp Street. There are no hotel pick ups.

It is possible to drive into Skippers Canyon but cars are not insured in there and the road is unsealed, quite dodgy and very dangerous with a 100m drop off on one side. I would not recommend this at all and you certainly couldn't do in in winter unless you are an very experienced 4wder with chains etc. The transport from Queenstown is part of the trip so best to let the experienced local drivers do the job.

Hi Matthew, 
The Skippers Canyon jet boat trip isn't overly accommodating for wheelchair passengers but that being said, it can be done and is done. You just need to have someone with you that can help you into the 4WD and then from the 4WD over the rocks and up a few stairs onto the boat!

Hi Scott. Unfortunately the minimum age is 3 years for all the jetboat operators in Queenstown! So no good I'm sorry. He can go with you for free on a helicopter flight, 4wd tour, lake cruise, Skyline gondola to name a few activities.

Hi Natasha, the Lord of the Rings filming locations are pointed out during both Skippers Canyon experiences so you do not need to book the Gold Experience to see these.

Hi Sarinah. Yes the standard Skippers Jet tour includes a central Queenstown pick up and transfers out to Skippers Canyon (50 minutes from town) and of course the 30 minuet jet boat ride in the canyons. The vehicles that take you in to Skippers are 22 seater vans and sometimes (during winter)  you will travel in the big purpose built Mog vehicles. You can upgrade to the Skippers Gold Experience which includes transfers to and from Queenstown in a 4wd, the 30 minute jet boat ride, gold panning & entry into Winky's museum.

Hi Sn, there is a photo available to purchase for the Jet boat ride of your Skippers Gold Experience package. The photos is $20 and is presented in a photo holder. This can be purchased on the day if you decide you want it.

Hi Jo, It takes approximately 45 minutes to get into the start of the Skippers Canyon jetboat ride in Skippers Canyon. The drivers are all very experienced and have driven the road many times. I have been in quite a few times myself and while it is a little scarey, the views and photo stops on the way more than make up for it. You can ask to sit on the far side of the bus away from the edge and nearer to the rock face if that helps you to feel more comfortable.

Hi Asia, additional to the standard Skippers Canyon Jet tour the Skippers Canyon Gold Experience includes a 4WD tour of Skippers Canyon, gold panning in an original gold claim as well as a visit to the Pipeline suspension bridge and Winky's museum where refreshments are served with a 5th generation Skippers local. You will also receive a glimpse into Quartz mining and battery press set up like Mt Aurum.

Hi Gitta, The minimum age for the Skippers Canyon Jet is 3 years old. It's also an adventurous 4WD trip into the canyon so your 2 1/2 year old will be to small for the seats on the bus, they unfortunately don't have children's seats. If you wanted to watch the jet boat trip from the shore the Shotover Jet would be the best option.

Hi Anica. Yes that is absolutely fine. When you book the Skippers Canyon Jet Boat via our website just type in N/A in the accommodation field in the Check Out page and once you know where you are staying just email us and we can adjust your pick up location.
