Milford Sound Overnight Cruises
Description
Milford Sound is simply stunning. In Maori legend, the fiords were created not by rivers of ice, but by Tu Te Raki Whanoa, a godly figure who came wielding a magical adze and uttering incantations. Milford Sound (Piopiotahi) is without doubt his finest sculpture. Whatever the fiord’s mood, teeming with rain or with sun glistening on deep water, it will inspire you.
When the day visitors depart a silence descends. An overnight cruise amidst spectacular Milford Sound, is a ‘once in a lifetime’ experience.
Real Journeys offers two overnight cruise options at Milford Sound. Each cruise offers passengers a relaxing opportunity to explore the magnificent scenery and wildlife of Milford Sound. They do differ in terms of accommodation – Milford Mariner private cabins with ensuite bathrooms (60 passengers) and Milford Wanderer shared bunk accommodation (61 passengers).
Mariner (private cabin)
The Milford Mariner offers you a very special dinner, bed and breakfast experience. On board the Milford Mariner, you will cruise the full length of this spectacular fiord to the Tasman Sea before anchoring for the night in sheltered Harrison Cove. With our nature guide you can go exploring in the tender craft and kayaks or simply relax on deck. After the day's activities, enjoy a delicious evening buffet in the spacious saloon before retiring to your private cabin.
Wanderer (quad share)
An overnight cruise on board the Milford Wanderer is a unique adventure. With our nature guide and friendly crew, you will cruise the full length of the fiord. Keep a lookout for wildlife, especially fur seals basking on the rocks. There is plenty of time available for you to go exploring in the kayaks and tender craft. As the shadows deepen the Milford Wanderer returns under sail (weather permitting) to Harrison Cove for the night. In our cosy saloon enjoy a delicious meal and socialise with other passengers. Quad Share sleeping arrangements.
