The Queenstown Wine Trail follows the story of wine production in the area. Gibbston Valley Wines released the region's first commercial wine vintage in 1987. Since then the region and its several vineyards have become famous for producing premium wines, particularly pinot noir. Winemaking at lattitude 45 degrees south is an adventurous business!

The vineyards here are at high altitude and subject to cold winters, hot dry summers and a significant night to day temperature range. Such adversity has led to pioneering winemaking, consistently superb wines, worldwide recognition and a plethora of international awards.

Each winery in the Queenstown region is a unique reflection of the pioneering spirit and passion for wine common to the local winemakers and viticulturalists. There are several vineyards in the Queenstown region. We choose the best vineyard combinations to provide an unhurried tour for each group on any given day.

A knowledgeable, fun and friendly guide will escort you from Queenstown into the wine country of the scenic Wakatipu region. At each vineyard you'll meet a member of the vineyard for a close up perspective of the local wine. Whether your palate is well developed or simply enthusiastic, as long as you love wine, our tours will delight.

Tour Options

The Original Tour: For the first time tasters or wine connoisseurs an in-depth introduction to four Queenstown wineries, a cheese factory visit and a wine cave tour. Friendly, knowledgeable guides offer an understanding of the unique Central Otago wine growing conditions and wines offered. Travelling time is kept to a minimum, the pace is relaxed and wine always superb. There is also time for lunch (not included in price) and cheese factory visit at Gibbston Valley Winery.

Summer Sampler (operates Oct 1st - March 31st): Designed for those on a tight time schedule the Summer Sampler maintains a relaxed and leisurely pace throughout its tour of two Queenstown vineyards with a winery lunch included.

Spa and Wine Experience: The ultimate relaxation package to be enjoyed with friends, family, partners and colleagues. Your day starts at Body Sanctum Spa at 10am and you can choose between a full body massage and luxurious spa facial or a flotation experience followed by a full body massage. After your spa treatment you will be picked up for your afternoon wine tour that includes tastings at 2 wineries, a winery gourmet lunch, an underground wine cave tour and a visit to a cheesery.
