Description
Join us on a kayak adventure across one of New Zealand's most scenic mountain lakes within the Southern Alps.
Two great kayaking tours leave from Glenorchy's shores at the head of Lake Wakatipu, only 40 minutes from Queenstown.
Glenorchy Island Safari
This safari launches from the shores near Glenorchy. The short paddle across the lake will take you to a secluded beach on either Pig or Pigeon Island.
From here you will through the natural New Zealand beech forest, giving you an opportunity to observe the thriving native birdlife and vegetation unique to these pest free islands.
Once you have explored the island you can relax on the beach and enjoy our refreshments before kayaking back to the mainland.
Highlights
- Easy 45 minute paddle across Lake Wakatipu. (Same paddle time back)
- Guided walk through Island's beech forest
- Photograph endangered bird life including New Zealand Weka
- Refreshments on the beach.
Dinner on Sunset
This tour takes you on a quiet paddle across the confluences of the Dart and Rees rivers at the head of lake Wakatipu. Land up on the beach in front of historic Kinloch Lodge and join me for a special dinner prepared by the chef at kinloch.
Relax and soak in the evening over dinner and enjoy and quiet paddle home as the shadows build amongst the mountains.
Highlights
- 45 minutes easy paddle to the historic lodge at Kinloch. (Same paddle time back)
