Great service. I made a last minute booking and tickets were emailed straight through for my activity that day.

Downhill Mountain Biking at the Skyline is great fun. Collecting our gear from Vertigo was seamless and the bikes were well serviced, we had no problems with them. Tracks at Skyline were well maintained and fun!

Latest Questions about Mountain Biking - Skyline Downhill

Hi Guys,
Interested in the Guided Tour of the bike park but wondering how many runs are you likely to get after the guided tour, and if you can have the option of keeping the gear for some solo runs in the arvo (and what would the cost be)?

Thanks

Comments

Hi Simon. If you book the downhill mountain biking in Queenstown with Vertigo you get a half day gondola lift ticket so you can do as many runs as you want in that time after the first 2 guided runs. You'll get a couple of extra runs in but if you want longer you can upgrade to a full day lift pass and bike hire with the guys on the day.

Hi, We are heading to NZ later on during the year, but haven't booked flights yet from Adelaide. I wanted to know if you can get gift vouchers for the helibiking as it is my husband's birthday next week and he is a mad mountain biker.

Comments

Hi Vanessa. Yes you can buy gift vouchers for any of the activities listed on our website. If you want to book one specifically for the heli mountain biking in Queenstown then simply click the green Book Now button on the Mountain biking page and select "I want this to be an open dated Gift Voucher". You will then be able to write a message etc and choose the option you wish to book and then proceed to the Check Out page. We will then email the gift voucher straight back to you. Please note that this voucher can be used towards the cost of any of the activities listed on our Queenstown and New Zealand websites.

Hi, is the skipper canyon suitable for beginners?

Comments

Hi Criselle. The Skippers Canyon mountain biking is on a narrow, steep, single track which is suited more to intermediate to advanced riders. Beginners are definitely welcome to do this ride however there may be some parts of the track that are too steep or difficult for you in which case you can revert to riding down the main skippers road instead. Please be aware however that this road is unsealed and also quite steep and there are no safety barriers. Saying that, I have done this tour a number of times and have often had beginner riders in the group and they seemed to have handled everything pretty well. Don't mean to put you off but just want you to have all the facts.

On Vertigos guided Skippers ride we do 2 runs of the canyon. So if people are a little nervous our need a warm up they can ride the 4wd road on the first run, then chose the more challenging gold miners single track on their 2nd descent.

Is there an age minimum for this bike tour?

Comments

Hi Mylinda.
There is not really a lower age limit as such for the Vertigo Mountain Biking rides, as it really depends entirely on the child's riding ability. There are smaller kids bikes available and as long as the child is capable of riding a mountain bike offroad and downhill then kids Vertigo will be happy to take them. That being said, the Gondola Downhill and Heli biking is really only suitable for experienced riders but the Skippers Downhill has had kids as young as 9 years old. If you're unsure then you can email us and let us know how old and how experienced your child is and we can recommend a suitable ride for them. All kids under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

As long as parents are comfortable and are prepared to sign their childs disclaimer form (it is up to each biker to keep them selves aboard their mtb bike) then Vertigo are prepared to take children from 13 upwards out on our guided tours without a parent present. Thanks.
