Hi there,
I'm bringing my mom with me for this tour. Is there a lot of walking/ physical activities?
I am also interested in other tours (queenstown/christchurch). Do you have other day tour recommendations?
and do you pick up from the accommodation or do we have to go to a pick up point?

Many thanks
Kezia

Comments

This tour is not strenuous, but does have the option for some small walks. We would recommend taking appropriate footwear, should you decide to go for a walk along one of the tracks.

Hi there,
Is it possible to break at mt cook and carry on a couple of days later?
We're hoping to travel from queenstown to christchurch via mount cook, but spend a couple of nights there on the way.

Comments

You certainly can have a break in Mt Cook and I would advise that as Mt Cook is absolutely remarkable so you will want plenty of time to explore. You would simply just book one way tickets, so Queenstown to Mt Cook and then Mt Cook either back to Queenstown or Christchurch.

Hi Elpidia, the pick up and drop off point in Christchurch is outside the bus interchange on Lichfield Street

Hello,
My friend and I are looking to travel to Mt. Cook and would like to do some hiking while there. Is it possible to purchase a round trip pass, stay the night in Mt. Cook, and return on the bus the following day or would we have to purchase two one way tickets? We would be based in Queenstown.

Many thanks.

Comments

Hello Janna, You will have to purhcase 2 x one way tickets. Queenstown to Mt Cook and then Mt Cook back to Queenstown.

Hello,
Re Queenstown > Mount Cook > Christchurch tour.
Is it possible to break the journey, stay overnight at the Hermitage, and then catch a subsequent tour, continuing a day or two later onto Christchurch?
Our (2pax) draft itinerary has this scenario for late June/early July 2016.
I look forward to receiving your guidance.

Comments

Yes, you can certainly do that. You will just need to book 2 one way tickets. The coach from Queenstown departs at 7.30am and arrives in Mt Cook around 12.30pm and the coach then departs Mt Cook for Christchurch at 1.45pm. So if you wanted to stay the night at the Hermitage you would have just over 24 hours at Mt Cook. The cost would be $141 from Qtown to Mt Cook and a further $147 from Mt Cook to Christchurch.

If you travel from Christchurch to Queenstown or Queenstown to Christchurch does the bus stop at Lake Pukaki too or just Lake Tekapo?

Comments

Hi Jeffery, the bus stops in Lake Tekapo at the Church of the Good Shepherd and occasionally the bus will stop at Lake Pukaki briefly at the Mt Cook lookout however, the Lake Pukaki stop is dependent on time and also weather. If the weather is no good or the bus is running a little behind schedule the stop won't be made. You can check with the bus driver on the day.

Hi if doing the tour starting and finishing in Queenstown, how long will we get at Mount cook itself? Is there the opportunity to go on a short hike for example? Also Does this tour run all year round I am thinking of coming in may?

Comments

Hi Laura, the coach departs Queenstown at 7.45am in the morning and arrives at Mt Cook at 12.30pm. The coach will then depart Mt Cook at 2.25pm so you have just under a couple of hours to look around but if you are having lunch then this will take up to an hour so you would have less time to look around. There is only really time to have a walk around the Hermitage complex as you won't have time to go too much further. Yes, the tour runs daily all year.

What does the 3 course lunch consists of? Which dinning room in the Hermitage hotel is this lunch held in?

Comments

Hi Jo, the lunch menu at the Hermitage Hotel, if selected on the Mt Cook tour, is a buffet style lunch where you have 3 selections to choose from. There is a hot selection that inlcudes roast pork, salmon, chicken, pasta, fish, roast veg and rice. Then there is a cold selection which includes fresh rolls, cold meats, smoked salmon and an array of salads and sauces and then finally there is dessert which consists of cakes, mousse, ice cream, coffee and tea etc. The meal is held at the Apline Restaurant.

Hi, is it not an option to depart from Chrstchurch and return to Christchurch at the end of the tour? What other options are there for those who want to return back to Christchurch after the tour?

Thanks :)

Comments

Hi Bethanie, there is no full day tour from Christchurch to Mt Cook and back to Christchurch. There is a half day tour that ends at Mt Cook for $185 per person and then you can catch another bus back to Christchurch at 1.45pm for $65 but there is no commentary or guide on the way back. The bus takes about 3.5 hours to get back to Christchurch. If you were looking for another options you could hire a car and drive yourself. This will be much cheaper and quicker for you.

Hi, Planning to tke this trip, im staying at Discovery sherwood hotel, will there be a pic up from this hotel for 2 people? Thank you

Hi Prasad,

Hope your Queenstown trip is going well.

Yes we can arrange a pick up for you from either your accommodation or just a couple of minutes walk down the road near Goldridge  - either way we can arrange for the transfers.

If there are any other activities in Queenstown that you were considering? Let me know if you need some help deciding and I will be happy to offer my personal recommendations.

Regards,

Nigel

Queenstown is a fantastic place!! My recent experiences to NewZealand are memorable. For my next vacations, I am planning to visit Montana. Hence I keep searching for Hotels in Billings MT to make my future trip memorable too.
