This was an amazing trip. The TSS Earnslaw is a wonderful boat. The food was so delicious. All the BBq meat and salads were so tasty and the dessert and lolly bar was brilliant. The sheep dog show was very enjoyable. A must do when you visit Queenstown.

What a fantastic experience. The trip on the TSS Earnslaw is great, but the BBQ lunch at the Walter Peak Working Farm is sensational and worth every dollar. Highly recommend to overseas visitors and locals as well.

Price is fair for the experience which includes the Earnslaw to and from Walter peak. I also enjoyed the singer and pianist onboard and how the outdoor bench seat connected to the coal room was heated. Walter Park itself is stunning so too the grounds. The dog show was a highlight. The meal was exceptionally good (I don’t remember it being so good and it’s my 4”3rd time going). The grounds are lovely but I could’ve done with an extra half hour to enjoy the grounds and water.

Great trip. Only what appeared to be 2 womens toilets was a wait. The lunch experience felt a little rushed, when we would have had more time in reality. We followed instructions but later realized we could have taken our time more as the farm show didn't start until 1.30

We both had a a yummy BBQ lunch, the service was very very good. We loved the view out over the lake while we were eating. It was also our 46th wedding annv so it was an amazing trip to do, we enjoyed walking around the gardens. We have already recommended this trip to a few of our friends :)

This was a great start to our Queenstown trip.
A well organised tour, not rushed and informative.
While initially sceptical regards the buffet lunch and the usual fight over the food, this was by far the most "civilised" buffet we have been at. The "Gourmet BBQ Lunch" was as promised, nice selection of the best meats, delicious sides and deserts to die for. A walk through the farm to get rid of some of the extra calories and enjoying the animals and presentations top the tour off nicely.

We were very pleased with the quick and prompt service especially when we were chopping and changing our booking. The disappointment we had with them was when we did original booking for 6 back in August and had to cancel we weren’t given a refund but a credit instead. The booking had been done on Tuesday 17th August, yes the day we went into lockdown at 11.59pm!

The lake cruise was very nice in the old steamship.
The gourmet bbq was average and there was no seafood as shown on the bbq photos. Many of the dishes were not replenished often enough so some didnt get a very good selection. The meat selection was wonderful and the desserts were also very nice.
We ordered 2 beers, which arrived while we were at the buffet and were left in the sun rather than the shaded part of the table. The devil is in the detail.
Aside from the bbq the grand homestead and gardens are truly beautiful.

This is a great experience. Firstly the cruise on the iconic Earnslaw, then the "farm experience," then the amazing delicious lunch - a barbecue unlike any other I have had. There are beautiful gardens to enjoy before the return trip to Queenstown on the Earnslaw. (I have been on 2 Earnslaw cruises on previous visits, without the lunch included - I wish I had!!)

An excellent 3 1/2 hour tour. Beautiful cruise with gorgeous scenery and Walter Peak was amazing and interesting. The bbq lunch was definitely gourmet and of high standard. I would recommend this trip for all ages and a must for Queenstown.

We really enjoyed the cruise, the farm show and the BBQ lunch but there are 2 little things that would make it an exceptional experience instead of 'just pleasant'.
The first thing is that we could hear and understand so little of what was said at the farm show. We are native English speakers with good hearing but really got very little of what our friendly guide said.
The second thing is that the lunch is far too rushed. adding a half hour to the time allowed for lunch would make it simply wonderful. I don't think people would eat up all the profits from the company in that half hour, but they would have time to finish their dessert and coffee. From our table we had a wonderful view and the food was top notch, well done and thank you!

The on-line booking process the evening before was frustrating as having booked on-line and paid on my card, the final stage was a message to tell me the booking was not confirmed as it was out of hours and I would receive a confirmation email when the office opened at 0800 the next morning. I didn't receive the confirmation email and had to chase the confirmation by the on-line chat.
Having said that the check in at the Quay was easy and the staff were most helpful giving advice where best to park and how to find the quay. The ride across the lake on the Earnslaw was great fun and the BBQ lunch at the farm superb. We did not join in the farm visit and sheep shearing demo but sat on the terrace finishing our rather good bottle of wine while taking in the views.

Refreshing cruise tour onboard TSS Earnslaw. Lunch at Walter peak was a buffet BBQ lunch but I won't say its the best. The farmtour was something different as the guide gave you a breakdown of how the sheepdogs worked, and also gave a live demostration of the sheering of the sheep's wool.

The Walter Peak BBQ Lunch & Lake Cruise in Queenstown has ramps fitted to board and disembark the TSS Earnslaw boat to take you across to Walter Peak for the BBQ dinner. These ramps can be a little steep depending on how high the lake level is. When you arrive at Walter peak station there is a path and ramp to the dining area, however be aware the path is very small loose gravel so some assistance may be required.

The Earnslaw returns 3.5 hours after departure. So if you are on the 2pm cruise and BBQ then you will return back to Queenstown wharf by 5.30pm. If you book the 6pm dinner cruise then you will get back to the wharf around 9.30pm. Alternatively if you don't wish to eat lunch or dinner then you can do the cruise only which is 1.5 hours return.

Part of the farm tour includes watching the farm dogs round up sheep into the shearing shed and then watching as the farmer shear one of the sheep.
