Ski Field - Cardrona

We spent 5 out of our 8 days snowboarding at Cardrona (2 adults & 3 Kids). The snow was the best of all 4 mountains in the Central Otago area, the best ski/board lesson school of them all and a fun atmosphere. The mountain is made up of nice long runs from beginners to advance with plenty of intermediate which was perfect for us. We found the best snow over in the Captains Basin and also a great ski up cafe called "Captain's Cafe" where they have fresh made pizzas and loads of inside and outside tables and chairs.

Suggestions: If you are heading back to Queenstown make sure you call into the old Cardrona Pub this is an icon of the Cardrona area.

Cardrona is a wide open, feel good ski field and regarded by many as having the driest and nicest snow in New Zealand. A fantastic place to learn how to ski or snowboard with plenty of room and open spaces and nowhere near as many crowds compared with Coronet Peak or The Remarkables. It has an awesome terrain park and 2 massive half pipes for the jibbers but also miles of easy to medium level terrain that makes boarding and skiing fun!
It's a bit further away than Coronet Peak and The Remarkables, taking about an hour door to door, but if the conditions are good and there has been a fresh dump of snow then there's no better place to ride!

Check out the great ski and snowboard packages available at Cardrona that will save you plenty of $$. If you don't need a lift pass or mountain transport then check out the Skis, Boards & Clothing Rental

Don't worry about hiring a car to drive up the mountain. The roads are icy and quite treacherous. Catch the ski shuttle instead.

Cardrona is perfect for the family, accommodating for all levels including kids under 5 who aren't yet skiing through to experienced riders. Take a lesson to improve your skills and confidence and then have a break and enjoy lunch at Captains Cafe in Captains Basin and watch as skiers race from top to bottom. Fun and family friendly Cardrona is quaranteed to show all a great day.

Hiya Ting,  I hope you're well, Thanks so much for your enquiry into the Cardrona Ski Field. The current opening dates are Cardrona Alpine Resort: 17 June - 22 October 2023.  This can be delayed if there is no decent snow pack before opening day, however, we are hopeful for another amazing season like last year.

Hello, I was just wondering if I booked this package for my father, and my brother and I booked the first timers were we going to be on the same trip as my father or not ?

Heya, this page isn't actually a package it is the collation of information on the cardrona ski field. I think you may be referring to the 'Discover snow' package for your further. You can search for it in the search bar.
