Climbing and abseiling in Queenstown can be enjoyed by both the newcomer and the more experienced alike, in stunning locations like the Remarkables. Via Ferrata is fixed-rung climbing and will push you both mentally and physically, but is also hugely rewarding. There are half-day and full-day Queenstown climbing trips with experienced guides, and all equipment is supplied except for boots. Join in for the most unbelievable fun!

Do you need to be an experienced rock climber to do the Queenstown Via Ferrata trip?

While no previous climbing experience is needed for this trip, you will need to be comfortable with heights and have a moderate level of fitness. Via Ferrata is a fantastic way to introduce a beginner to climbing, in the fantastic settings amongst cliffs that have been carved out by 1000m deep glaciers of the Southern Alps. You will get to experience awesome views, before summiting on top of Queenstown Hill Massif and looking back down over Lake Wakatipu.

How old do you need to be to do the Via Ferrata half day Queenstown climbing trip?

The minimum age for the Via Ferrata trip is 12 years and older, as the trip does have a certain level of physical activity. If you are looking for something with a bit of an adrenaline hit for children under 12, then be sure to check out Ziptrek Eco Tours who provide exciting ziplining adventures and can accommodate from the age of 6 years old and is a fantastic family activity.

Is the equipment included in these Queenstown rock climbing trips?

The only thing that you will need to bring is a good set of shoes, something like hiking shoes would be perfect. All the other necessary equipment will be provided by Queenstown Climbing for the Via Ferrata Trip and Ziptrek Eco tours.

Is the Gondola included in the price of the Queenstown Ziplining tour?

The Gondola is not included in the price of the tour on its own. However, check out our Ziptrek Ecotours, Skyline Gondola and Luging combo. This is a fantastic way to make the most of your day, taking in the stunning views from the Skyline building before having some great fun on the luge track and finishing of the day with the brilliant Ziptrek Ecotours Moa 4 Line tour! This combo also give you access to some exclusive savings that you won't find anywhere else.
