Hi, I was just wondering if you can drive up to coroner peak at night before they open for the season. I’ll be in QT next week (June 11th to 15th) and I would love to be able to drive up and take some photos at night. I’m just unsure if the road is open. Thank you.
Hello. We are visiting with our two under fours and whilst one of us plans to ski we are wondering if there is an area we can toboggan build a snowman etc. Also can you pay to ride the chairlift if not skiing/ snowboarding. Cheers nic

just wondering when ski seasons have started over previous years?

Hi Lance, Coronet Peak can open as early as the first week in June and is generally the first ski field to open however some years due to the lack of snow the skifields may postpone the opening for a week or 2 until there is enough snow.
Will there already be snow in Coronet Peak in middle of May 2013? Not for skiing. Just for kids to see and play with.

Hi John. It's really hard to predict if there will be any snow on the ground in Queenstown in May prior to the ski season commencing in June. There is usually an early snow fall in May before the ski season starts but it can be a few cms or a few feet so impossible to tell if there would be enough to play around in. There should at least be some snow on the mountains and surrounding hills that the kids will be able to see. It really only snows in town a few times a year so unless you head up to the ski fields it is unlikely that there will be any on the ground to play with.

We want to go to this ski field the 20th of June, can we pay there or we have to book in advance?

Hi Felipe, yes you can pay for your lift passes up at the ski field on the day. There is no need to book in advance. However, if you are wanting to hire eqiupment and clothing then I recommend doing this before getting up the mountain to save time. Click on the following link for options available and to book your gear if you need it Snow Hire.

Heya, Yes there is space at Coronet Peak for building snowmen and a tubing activity. The tubing is not open all of the time though and will just be dependent on the day.
