Description
Bike the Wineries with Around the Basin in Queenstown is the perfect way to experience both stunning scenery and world-renowned wines. This unique self-guided tour takes you on a leisurely bike ride through Queenstown's wine country, with the chance to stop at some of the best wineries in the area for a tasting (or two!).
The half day Bike the Wineries tour is perfect for those who are short on time or don't want to spend the whole day on a bike. For a longer experience with more time to visit wineries, check out the Full Day Bike the Wineries tour instead.
From Queenstown, you will be transferred by bus to Arrow Junction, where your bike ride to Gibbston Valley will begin. Here, you are provided with a high-quality bike, helmet and a map of the route, which includes exclusive offers at some of the best wineries and cellar doors in Gibbston. Set off on a scenic ride along the Gibbston River Trail, taking in breathtaking views of rolling hills and vineyards along the way.
As you cycle from winery to winery, you will have the opportunity to sample some of the finest wines in the world, including the region's renowned Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc (own cost). There are also plenty of options for beer lovers on this tour, with a brewery and tavern available on route. Depending on how many venues you choose to visit, the total biking distance can vary from 6km to 17km. Explore the wineries at your leisure before getting collected from the Gibbston Tavern at the end of the day.
If you would prefer to use an e-bike this can be added on to any option for an additional cost.

- Please note wine tastings are not included, you will need to purchase your own tastings on the day. The average cost is around $15 per winery (some tastings are free!)
- Children's bikes, kiddie bike seats & kids half bikes available. Kids under 5 years old put in a kiddie seat with mum or dad and are charged at the infant rate, which also includes the car seat for transfers to & from town
- E-bike riders must be at least 145cm tall (average age 9yrs+)
- Lunch is not included so bring with you a picnic lunch or money to purchase lunch at one of the wineries
- Bring with you comfortable footwear, suitable clothing (ideally shorts, riding pants or tights), a rain jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, camera & spending money
- If you purchase a bottle of wine along the way, Around the Basin will pick it up from the winery for you
